SACP 2nd DGS Solly Mapaila to address NUM Education and Training Summit tomorrow.

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) in partnership with its training institution Elijah Barayi Memorial Training Centre (EBMTC) will be hosting Education and Training Summit starting tomorrow (3-5 May 2017) at its Centre in Midrand.

The theme of the summit is: “Repositioning our Education and Training Programmes in line with Transformational Agenda”

The summit will be addressed by the South African Communist Party (SACP) 2nd Deputy General Secretary Solly Mapaila and NUM Deputy President comrade Joseph Montisetse.

The NUM Education and Training Summit seeks to evaluate previous models of worker education delivery and to plan for the upcoming years. It is also at this summit that the NUM will explore other opportunities in empowering shop stewards and leadership.

The NUM has been consistent with Shop Steward Training and Development since the establishment of the workers’ college, EBMTC in 1993.

EBMTC is an accredited training institution established by the NUM for the purpose of developing the working class. The skills development within NUM has been elevated by the full accreditation of EBMTC with the Education and Development Practices SETA.

The media is invited to attend and report.

About Us
The National Union of Mineworkers was founded in 1982.

Its birth was facilitated by comrades Cyril Ramaphosa who rose to be its first General Secretary, James Motlatsi who turned to be its first President, and Elijah Barayi who became its Vice President and later the President of Cosatu in 1985 when the federation was formed. porn
