"Since the NUM and the Chamber of Mines signed the wage agreement with AngloGold Ashanti and Harmony, the NUM has been applying all measures to persuade Sibanye Gold to sign the wage agreement. We approached our legal team to put pressure on Sibanye Gold to sign the agreement. The NUM also embarked on rolling mass actions at Sibanye Gold operations. In all these processes, we have been urging the company to revise the wage offer. As we are meeting today under the auspices of the CCMA, we continue with our attempts to persuade Sibanye Gold to improve the offer and sign the agreement," said NUM General Secretary and the Chief Negotiator at the Chamber of Mines.
