NUM to hold its women structure elective conference

posted on
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) will on the 19th-20th November 2014 hold its 6th National Women's Conference at the Birchwood Conference Centre in Boksburg.

The conference takes place under the theme “ Women stronger together in advancing Sector Charter Transformation”.

The conference takes place against the backdrop of a serious onslaught on black women in the mining, construction and energy sectors both by capital and male colleagues.

Women from across the country coming from the three sectors in which the NUM organises will gather to reflect on the challenges and headways on their way to their total emancipation amongst others.

The conference will be addressed by the NUM leadership, Zingiswa Losi Cosatu second Deputy President, Susan Shabangu Minister of Women in the Presidency, Tloko Mpumlwana Deputy Chairperson Commission on Gender Equality and representatives from the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR), the South African Communist Party (SACP) and the African National Congress (ANC).

The media is hereby invited to attend and report.

For accreditation purposes, members of the media can send their details i.e names, contact details and the name of the institution where they work to lmammburu@num.org.za.
