NUM supports the public sector unions wage strike

Media Statement 10 March 2023

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is fully supporting the wage increase strike by the public sector unions around the country.

The workers are demanding10% salary increase. They are also demanding the filling of all vacant positions, the insourcing of all the outsourced services and to end an attack on collective bargaining.

The NUM urges the employers to sit down with the trade unions at PSCBC to find an amicable solution. The employer should engage unions in good faith and realise that the consequences of a full-blown strike will be devastating for the economy and public services.
