NUM concluded a three-year wage agreement with Ergo mining

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) signed a 3-year wage agreement with Ergo Mining in Springs which will be implemented for 3 years, with effect from 1 July 2022. This wage agreement will apply to the parties, defined as the Company and the Unions and their members as well as all employees in Categories 4-15 employed at the company.

1. WAGE AGREEMENTS

1.1 INCREASES IN BASIC WAGES: YEAR 1

1.1.1. Cat 4-5 employees

The minimum and actual wage rates of Cat 4-5 employees will be increased by 9,5%.

1.1.2 Cat 6-9 employees

The minimum and actual wage rates of Cat 6-9 employees will be increased by 8%

1.1.3 Cat 10-15 employees

The minimum and actual wage rates of Cat 10-15 employees will be increased by 6,5%.

2.1 INCREASES IN BASIC WAGES: YEAR 2

2.2.1. Cat 4-5 employees

The minimum and actual wage rates of Cat 4-5 employees will be increased by 9,5% with effect from 1 July 2023.

2.2.2 Cat 6-9 employees

The minimum and actual wage rates of Cat 6-9 employees will be increased by 8% with effect from 1 July 2023.

2.2.3 Cat 10-15 employees

The minimum and actual wage rates of Cat 10-15 employees will be increased by 6,5% or CPI (whichever is greater) with effect from 1 July 2023.

3.1 INCREASES IN BASIC WAGES: YEAR 3

3.3.1. Cat 4-5 employees

The minimum and actual wage rates of Cat 4-5 employees will be increased by 9,5% with effect from 1 July 2024.

3.3.2 Cat 6-9 employees

The minimum and actual wage rates of Cat 6-9 employees will be increased by 8% with effect from 1 July 2024.

3.3.3 Cat 10-15 employees

The minimum and actual wage rates of Cat 10-15 employees will be increased by 6,5% or CPI (whichever is greater) with effect from 1 July 2024.

4. Housing 

4.1 LIVING OUT ALLOWANCE

The Living Out Allowance will increase by R150 to R3,150.00 per month with effect from 1 July 2022, by R150 to R3,300 per month with effect from 1 July 2023 and by a further 150 to R3,450 with effect from 1 July 2024.

4.2 HOME OWNERSHIP ALLOWANCE.

A Home Ownership Allowance of a Rand amount equivalent to the Living Out Allowance plus a 10% premium on that allowance, will be paid in respect of those employees who comply with the following requirements.

. They are in category 4-9

. They are first-time bonded homeowners anywhere in South Africa.

The home ownership allowance will be paid directly into the qualifying employees' bond account. Employees will not be eligible to receive both the Home Ownership Allowance and the Living Out Allowance.
