Four mineworkers have been found dead at Kloof Ikamva Shaft
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) can confirm that four mineworkers have been found dead at Kloof Ikamva Shaft after they went missing this morning. It is not known what is the cause of the incident. This is an operation owned by Sibanye Stillwater.

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is disgusted by the level of brutal arrogance shown by the black majority led Eskom negotiating team. The negotiation team has suspended their ability to reason and decided to stick to the straight jacket mandate of 0% to all demands from NUM. We view this approach by the Eskom negotiating team as a wasteful and fruitless exercise. They had the audacity to call a special and highly armed force to intimidate the NUM negotiating team.

JUNE 12 is a deadline for media accreditation to the 16th NUM National Congress

One miner died at Sibanye Stillwater's Driefontein Hlanganani Shaft
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is deeply concerned that the mining industry has yet claimed another life of a mineworker, this time again at Sibanye Stillwater's Driefontein Hlanganani shaft outside Carletonville. The mineworker died early hours of this morning at Driefontein Hlanganani shaft due to fall of ground. This is after three mineworkers were trapped while doing their night shift work.

The National Union of Mineworkers is set to hold its 16th National Congress from 20-22 June 2018 at Birchwood Conference Centre in Boksburg. This is a Congress that comes three years after the successful 15th National Congress which was held at the same venue. NUM Highveld Regional leadership to address workers on the decision taken by the Business Rescue Practitioners to suspend JIC Mining Services
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) Highveld regional leadership will tomorrow (Thursday) address a mass meeting at Optimum Coal Mine in Mpumalanga. The mass meeting is organised after the decision by Business Rescue Practitioners to serve JIC Mining Services with a letter to suspend its services until further notice. This decision by the Business Rescue Practitioners will affect 480 employees employed by JIC Mining Services.
