NUM has noted of the latest offer from the coal mining companies
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has noted the latest wage offer by the coal mining companies that was presented to the union yesterday. The NUM is not in a position to accept or reject the offer. The NUM is going to seek a mandate from its members and the two parties will reconvene again this coming Wednesday where the NUM will report back the mandate gathered from its members.

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) has decided to extend the strike notice to the Chamber of Mines until Monday due to some coal companies offering a new wage offer to our members. The coal companies will present the new wage offer to our members next week on Monday.

The National Union of Mine Workers Youth Structure (NUM-YS) is disturbed and concerned by the recent acts of crime and barbarian that it observed in Orange farm in the Vaal area in Gauteng where our youth leader Tebogo Litelu’s house was burnt down by alleged AMCU hooligans last week on Friday night. Comrade Tebogo Litelu is the Branch Chairperson of the Vaal Sanitary which is a manufacturing company under construction where the NUM organises.

NUM has received a certificate to go on strike in the Coal Sector
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) can confirm that it has received a certificate to go on strike in the coal sector this afternoon. Negotiations between the NUM and the Chamber of Mines have officially collapsed with the issuing of a certificate of non-resolution to the dispute by the CCMA. The NUM leadership is going to report back to members. The NUM will issue a notice to go on strike in due course.
