The 6th Annual JB Marks Career Exhibition 2017 Heads to Mthatha
The 2017 edition of the annual JB Marks Career Exhibition is heading to Mthatha in the Eastern Cape from 24 to 25 April at the Mthatha Airport Hangers. This year will see JB Marks Education Trust Fund, in partnership with the Eastern Cape Department of Basic Education reach an estimated target of 8000 learners from the district of Mthatha and the surrounding areas.

NUM welcomes the sale of Anglo American operations in Mpumalanga to Seriti Resources
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) welcomes the announcement made by Anglo American plc's  sale of its Eskom-tied domestic thermal coal operations in South Africa for R2.3 billion to a wholly owned subsidiary of Seriti Resources a company majority owned by historically disadvantaged South Africans.

NUM General Secretary David Sipunzi to visit Hendrina and Kriel Power Stations in Mpumalnga
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) General Secretary David Sipunzi will visit Hendrina and Kriel Power Stations tomorrow (06 April 2017) in Mpumalanga to address mass meetings. The National Union of Mineworkers observed with grave concern the announcement by the State President in his 2017 State of the Nation Address that Eskom must fast track the signing of agreements with the Independent Power Producers. At the time of this announcement, theNUM was not aware of the real impact of the statement. Within a few weeks of the President’s speech, there was pressure on Eskom from all corners, including some Cabinet Ministers to sign agreements with IPPs.

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) will hold a press conference tomorrow (Wednesday) at its headquarters in Johannesburg. The press conference is about the issue of IPPs and the decision taken by Eskom to close down five power stations. The press conference will be addressed by the NUM leadership.

  Press Statement, 17 March 2017 - NUM disappointed with DRD Gold on BEE transaction
The NUM has noted with disappointment media reports on the pending shareholder's approval of the "hedging arrangements" of Khumo's DRD Gold shares, the Mining Right Holder (DRD Gold) backs this as long as it does not "encroach its current BEE status" according to the company statement.
