NUM and MQA signed a 3-year bursary agreement to fund 80 engineering students
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and Mining Qualification Authority (MQA) signed a 3-year bursary agreement with the JB Marks Education Trust Fund to fund 80 engineering students to study at tertiary institutions across South Africa. The agreement was signed today at MQA head office in Parktown. This agreement is pivotal in that it increases the JB Marks annual intake from 200 to 280 beneficiaries for the next three years.

 Two alleged AMCU members arrested for killing an NUM branch leader in Mpumalanga.
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) welcomes the arrest of two alleged AMCU members for the killing of NUM Branch Secretary comrade John Simelane at Evander Gold Mine in Mpumalanga. Comrade John Simelane was brutally gunned down on the 22nd of April 2017 while on his way to work.

NUM concludes a 3-year wage agreement with the Coal Producers
The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is pleased to announce it has signed a 3-year wage agreement with the coal producers last night. The wage agreement is effective from 1 June 2017 (Officials) and 1 July 2017 (category 4 to 8 employees and Miners and Artisans at all Companies with the exception of Koornfontein Mines which will implement on 1 July 2017 and Delmas Coal which will implement on 1 July 2017 for all employees.

The National Union of Mineworkers was founded in 1982.

Its birth was facilitated by comrades Cyril Ramaphosa who rose to be its first General Secretary, James Motlatsi who turned to be its first President, and Elijah Barayi who became its Vice President and later the President of Cosatu in 1985 when the federation was formed. porn
