NUM welcomes the Competition Commission recommendation on job losses at Optimum Coal Mine.

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) welcomes the Competition Commission recommendation that the proposed merger between Tegeta Exploration and Resources (Pty) Ltd and Optimum Coal Mine (Pty) Ltd and six others must be approved on condition that that the merging parties will not retrench any employees of the target firms as a result of the merger.

The NUM is extremely worried about the bloodbath of job losses in the mining industry.
